TESTING SCHEDULE
Parents, if you have children in grades 3, 4 or 5 please note the dates for MSA testing in the newsletter calendar. Parents of students in the second grade please note the dates for SAT 10 testing. Please make every effort to have your child attend school on these dates and try not to schedule any appointments for your child. Please also make sure that your child gets a good night's sleep and eats a good breakfast the morning of testing. Thank you for your support!

TALENT SHOW APRIL 25th!
The Talent Show is coming Friday, April 25th! A really big thank you to those who made it loud and clear they could help put it on. Thank you!! Plan on Dress Rehearsal at 4:30 Wednesday, 4/23, and showtime at 6:30 on the 25th (dress rehearsal & show in the Middle School Gym). OUR PENNIES FOR PATIENTS DRIVE IS OVER!

A big thank you to our whole school community for contributing to our Pennies for Patients drive! The money raised was donated to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help find a cure for cancer.
The Hammond Elementary School community collected $1212.97 for this worthy cause! Thank you for helping our students learn the satisfaction of giving to those in need! It's important to know that we can all make a difference!

FREE PARENT WORKSHOP!
Look for your registration form in your child's take home folder! Smashing ANTS - how to teach your child to smash negative thinking and create positive self esteem. Wednesday, April 16th 7-8:30 in the HES Media Center.
This will be a fantastic presentation - don't miss it!

HES PTA ANNUAL YARD SALE
The Annual Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, May 3rd form 9-1. Spaces will be two for $15.00. The space reservation form must be turned in by April 23rd. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope so that you can receive your confirmation. Spaces are given on a first come first served basis. SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS FOR 2008-2009
Hey busy moms & dads! Want to eliminate the hassle of running around to buy all those different school supplies for next year? We will be offering a simple and cost effective solution - School Supply Kits. We have teamed up with a major school supplier and will be offering all inclusive school supply kits tailored for your child's grade at one low price. Look for flyers to come home with your child in April!

Donations Wanted for Spring Carnival
We are still collecting your Gently Used Stuffed Animals and Happy Meal Toys for the Spring Carnival. This is a great time to do some spring cleaning and donate some old friends. HEADLINE NEWS! APRIL Family Night MOVES TO TRUE NEIGHBORHOOD VENUE!
Bring your family and friends to New York J&P Pizza located on Ice Crystal Drive, on Tuesday, April 15th between 4pm and 9m and enjoy great Italian food & a fun time. Although new to our geographical area, New York J&P Pizza has been serving traditional Italian food in Maryland for over 25 years. The menu includes a wide variety of pizzas, subs, salads, pasta and steaks, along with a selection of seafood, veal and chicken dishes. Enjoy delicious calzones and strombolis made from fresh pizza dough, prepared daily. 10% of all sales between 4pm and 9pm will be donated to the Hammond Elementary PTA, so spread the word and see you there. LOOKING FOR A NURSERY SCHOOL?
Middle Patuxent Nursery School (MPNS), a parent cooperative preschool located in the Meeting Room next to the River Hill Pool in Clarksville, is currently accepting applications for 3 and 4 year olds for the Fall of 2008. CANDLELIGHT CONCERTS
Candlelight Concerts will present The Pacifica String Quartet on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road in Columbia. COLUMBIA ASSOCIATION AND THE COLUMBIA TRIATHLON ASSOCIATION
The Columbia Association and the Columbia Triathlon Association are holding a Columbia Kid's Triathlon Camp on July 13, 2008, from 8:00 a.m.  12 p.m. at Clemens Crossing Pool. The camp is for kids 7  13 years old who want to learn how to do a kid's triathlon. Bring your parent with you and have lots of funlearn how to swim, bike, and run in a triathlon. You will also find out what you need to eat and drink to give you the most energy! The cost is $30 + $5 for USA Triathlon membership. For more information, e-mail jcarbary@hotmail.com.

CAPITOL DEBATE - SPRING 2008 PUBLIC SPEAKING WORKSHOP FOR 4TH AND 5TH GRADERS
Students will learn the basics of public speaking including confidence, voice projection, vocal variety, eye contact and body movement. Sessions held at River Hill High School each Thursday from either 4:30 to 5:30 or 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. starting on April 10th to June 12th. Cost: $150.
